"Did you ever fantasize about a great bar and restaurant where you park in front and then go in and find a host who acts genuinely glad to see you?

I found it while visiting dear friends in Michigan. Most likely, you will eventually meet the owner laughing among the patrons and asking how they like the food.  This is a friendly, social meeting place right out of the 1950s.

It's affectionately referred to as the Road House, and serves great food with a smile.  There are no dissatisfied customers here.  The lodge-like interior belies the sophistication of the owner who has recently started catering elegant events at other locations.  Their fresh whitefish is lightly breaded with parmesan cheese and the burgers are great.

They have a range of beers for the sensitive palette and serve celebrities as well as locals with the same friendliness.  The only negative is the infrequent smoker sitting at a table near the bar, so be sure to request the non-smoking seating area.

You will leave knowing what college the waitress went to last year, the name of the owner or manager and all the people at the two nearest tables.  It is a genuine throw-back to the 'Cheers' era!"

"The Red Arrow Roadhouse, is about a 3 minute walk from the resort.  We ate there... great food.

Our group had everything from burgers to fish tacos."
